Money saved
Panjshir Aid supports individuals and families to complete applications, apply for housing through the council, and navigate essential public services. By helping people correctly fill in forms, gather documentation, and understand council processes, we reduce errors, delays, and repeat submissions.
This early support prevents unnecessary appointments, repeated casework, missed deadlines, and avoidable housing crises — reducing pressure on council staff and temporary accommodation services.
Based on the number of individuals we support each year, we estimate that our work saves local councils tens of thousands of pounds annually in administrative time, translation costs, and crisis intervention expenses.
By providing accessible, community-based support, we deliver cost-effective solutions while helping families move toward stability and independence.
Families helped
Each year, Panjshir Aid supports 200+ families and individuals across our community.
Through one-to-one guidance, application support, housing assistance, and practical advice, we help people secure safe accommodation, access essential services, and build stability in their daily lives. Many of those we support arrive facing language barriers, complex systems, and uncertainty about their rights — our intervention provides clarity, confidence, and direction.
Our impact goes beyond paperwork. By empowering individuals to navigate services independently, we strengthen families, reduce crisis situations, and help create long-term, positive outcomes within the wider community.
Culture and sport
We proudly host and celebrate key cultural events every year including Mother Language Day, Afghan Heritage Day, Nowruz, Eid, and community gatherings such as the Rumi Festival. These events bring families together, celebrate Afghan heritage, and create spaces where traditions can be shared with the wider community.
Since the end of 2025, we have also launched a free community sports programme, making physical activity accessible to all. Our sessions include Taekwondo, cricket, football, and fitness classes, open to children, young people, and adults.
Through culture and sport, we strengthen community bonds, promote health and wellbeing, and create positive opportunities for people of all ages to connect, grow, and thrive together.
Young people
Panjshir Aid is committed to supporting young people in our community, helping them develop skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Through dedicated youth programmes, we provide opportunities to engage in sports like Taekwondo, football, cricket, and fitness, alongside cultural activities that celebrate Afghan heritage. These sessions give young people safe spaces to learn, make friends, and stay active.
We also offer mentorship, guidance, and community events that help young people navigate education, personal development, and social challenges, empowering them to thrive and contribute positively to the wider community.
